Reflection on Sources

During the research part I had reliable sources and non reliable sources too. If they were reliable they did not have as much ads as the other ones did. I found that articles from back in the day helped me with my findings. The Holocaust Museum obviously helped me with finding out things too because they know their surroundings of the Holocaust. The untrustworthy sites were the .coms because anyone could have written them, but some of them did give good ideas and facts that were reliable. Even though the articles were the best things for my research, some of them were very bias. That is just because a person wrote it from their own opinions and facts they have.

Reflection Paragraph on Process

During this project I thought that it was very challenging because of the research I had to do to find the answers and information I needed. The easiest things that I had to do were citations, wordle, animoto, and when I found the information to put them into a paragraph. The most difficult things to do were researching the information, finding limits that information that I used was very challenging for me. I enjoyed doing the whole project, also learning new things throughout the research. The things I disliked was to already have done it, and  had a few things wrong here and there. But if I had to do this project again, which I will make another blog because it’s fun, I would pick an interesting topic, and a topic where I know they have a lot of recourses to l get information from. But this was an all around fun and interesting  project, and I learned an extreme amount of things things about the Holocaust.

Reflection on Findings

Based on my research and what I found on the different websites I looked at. I found a lot of facts and statistics on the Holocaust, people’s opinions, articles back in the years these happened, and other things too. In the Holocaust Hitler wanted everything to be perfect, which is why the Holocaust started in the first place. The things he actually did was test if he could change the eye color, hair color, skin color, personalities, and other things to make the people all be alike. The things they did to the Jews were gassing, hanging, torturing, and killing. The Germans did not even care what the people thought; they just killed and killed and killed 6 million Jews dead in the Holocaust. 6 million is a lot of people; not just 6 million died, other people also died from trying to make changes, or just killed for no reason. This is all kind of like the event that happened with the whites and the blacks; they hated each other for the colors they are, whites would kill blacks because of it too. In the Holocaust, Germans don't even care what other people think; they just kill them because they have the joy and permission of it. Honestly it could happen again because things from the history that has happened recently; therefore, if that can happen so can something like the Holocaust. There is bound to have countries with their disputes that want to try and start something, just like Germany did back then. In the US there are concentration camps today, people don't even understand how big of an issue the Holocaust was and also how relevant it is. The Holocaust affected us in good and bad ways, which gave us ideas, gave us war, gave us equality, and more. If something like the Holocaust happened again, no one would know if people would stand up for what is right or not. During the Holocaust people watched and did NOTHING, but if people realized what happened during the Holocaust people would actually make a change.

Finding Paragraph #3

Could the Holocaust happen again? Yes it could possibly happen agian in the near or far futrure, just because of prejudice and wanting perfect. Based on research perfect is all Hitler wanted; people to look, talk, and act the same. We have no idea what the future government is expected to be. What if they want everything perfect? We have absolutely no idea. "I think that it is very possible that any country (including the western world) could again feel that much hatred against another group of people." Majority of countries could have enough hatred for another country. "In 2008 there were 559 reported incidents of anti-Semitism worldwide. In 2009 that number jumped to 1,129. The UK was the biggest offender, with anti-Semitic incidents there increasing from 112 in 2008 to 374 in 2009. France was close behind, with 50 anti-Semitic incidents in 2008 and 195 in 2009. Canada saw an increase from just 13 anti-Semitic incidents in 2008 to 138 incidents in 2009."
For example, we have experienced prejudice before and it was different from the Holocaust, but the same because people died. World War I happened in 1913 and then World War II happened in 1939. Therefore, things that happen in history can start all over again. Wars still happen today, other historical things happen today; couldn't something like the Holocaust happen again? Yes. "But can we just leave it alone? We know about it but we don't talk about it. Perhaps we've even listened to a Holocaust survivor speak. We know that the Holocaust was infinitely more horrible than we can imagine. But does everyone know this?"(Rosenberg) If something like it happens again, will people stand up for what is right, is the question. During the Holocaust people would just stand there and watch it, and do absolutely nothing about it. But there are people out in the world that is against anything like war, so there will be people who would try to stop it immediately.

This is a believer of thinking it could NOT happen again:

Finding paragraph #2

This type of event and the things that has happened was not necessary during the 1900's. "Only the bad laws applied to us, that we couldn't walk on a sidewalk, only in the middle of the street. And we wear a star that everybody should recognize us. But it wasn't a law that somebody couldn't kill us. That law didn't apply to us. It wasn't any justice." (Galler) It was not fair, the Jews were being segregated from the rest of Germany. Was it fair when the blacks were different from the whites and were killed for no reason? No. Hitler thought it was all good for killing the Jews just because he disliked them, does that even sound right? None of this was fair, people shouldn't be judged for how they look; it's just not fair to them. People do not understand the concept that everyone is alike in some ways, they just assume. Like whites assumed blacks were discolored and should be treated differently. Hitler wanted everyone to look the same, the Jews were different, so he put laws against them and killed them for that. How do you think the Jews and blacks felt, put yourself in there shoes and see through their eyes. None of this even sounds real, why would people even think of doing such a thing, and people are crazy in the mind to do this. The only question is, could anything like this ever happen again?

Finding paragraph #1

The Holocaust was a very big event during the 1900's because of how it affected the US. Weather people want to talk about it or not, the Holocaust is known all over the world. "During this time, more than 6 million Jews and millions of other groups that caught the negative attention of Nazi Germany. While all the murders were devastating to native populations, none were so devastating than that of the Jews. During this period, 5,000 Jewish communities were wiped out and the total that died represented 1/3 of all Jewish people alive at that time." (Chabotte) Germany was invaded countries left and right; no one trusted them. "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." Soviet Union decided to stay close to their enemy, Germany and Hitler, so they could know what is going on and what they are doing. Hitler a few years later turned on the Soviet for no reason, and sent troops to Russia. He was not well prepared at all for this attack; the torturous voyage through the mountains and the snowy grounds with nothing.  Most of Hitler’s army died because of the coldness, illnesses, or tiredness. Soviet was not very happy at this point, so they decide to liberate all of the camps throughout Germany. How did they affect the US today? "Radio host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has claimed to have discovered FEMA Concentration Camps," we still actually still have concentration camps today. We still do hold people in prison, but at least it is for a good reason. During the Holocaust this was the biggest outcry for Americans; we started having sympathy for the Jews. So that's when the creation for Israel happened because the US wanted a safe place for the Jewish. It also just gave people a look on things now, a lot has changed, and we are not prejudice against other people.

Six million Jews caught the negative eye of the Nazi party. All that were dying were the jews, which no one care because they stood there and watched an did absolutly nothing. While they were being kill and taken over, a total of 5,000 Jewish  communities were whiped out dry. This is pretty much saying the scary facts that happened in the Holocaust and how no one did anything about it at all.

"But can we just leave it alone? We know about it but we don't talk about it. Perhaps we've even listened to a Holocaust survivor speak. We know that the Holocaust was infinitely more horrible than we can imagine. But does everyone know this?.... Who speaks up against these false ideas? Who speaks up against the people who say it never happened? Who speaks up against those that say it is a Jewish conspiracy attempting to gain pity? Not many - for it is too disturbing to discuss. " -Jeniffer Rosenburg

This quote she is trying to explain what she believes, which is the subject of the Holocaust is too disturbing to bring up! Listening to a speaker is talk about it, and seeing how terrifying it was. Some people have no idea what is what, or what happened, maybe why it happened. There are less and less people who even want to try and get it out anymore, or try and speak up for the subject. This is pretty much saying though, that it is too disturbing to talk about.

She is a survivor from the Holocaust and is telling us about the laws Hitler put down for the Jews. They had to obey them or they would just simply die because there was no law saying the Germans couldn’t kill the Jews. There is no justice for what had happened in the past.

The Jewish race is to be exterminated,' says every party member. 'That's clear, it's part of our program, elimination of the Jews, extermination, right, we'll do it.” -Heinrich Himmler
He is giving a speech to the SS and was saying that the Germans had a right of what they were doing because the Jews were trying to destroy them. They were going to get revenge, and if eliminating all of the Jews was that, so be it!

“The Holocaust is a history of enduring horror and sorrow. It seems as though there is no spark of human concern, no act of humanity, to lighten that dark history.” -Louis Bülow

What he is saying is looking back at the years of the Holocaust were horrific and saddening because no human that watched this did nothing. No human even tried to stop or go let the word out to someone who would care; instead they just stood there watching.

http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?ModuleId=10005142

This article is created by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and in this article it explains what the children went through during the Holocaust. This is useful for me to find out what the babies and the teens went through during my topic, and to see if they had any affect on why this was happening.

http://www.holocaust-trc.org/article.htm

This article is by Jack P. Eisner, a survivor of the Holocaust, which could help me by actually getting a point of view that went down during that time period. In this he explains what happened to families and people during the Holocaust, and what kind of torture they went through.

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,745087,00.html?internalid=ACA

This article is by Time and they have partnership with CNN, they are trying to tell people how Hitler became the leader of Germany and what he is out for. This is helpful because Hitler is the main reason the Holocaust happened, and it will help me find reasons it could happen again.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/17/books/review/Kalfus-t.html?_r=1&ref=nazi_policies_toward_jews_and_minorities

This article is by New York Time and they are trying to explain what happened in the Holocaust, and why the Jews were the main people to be tortured and how most of them were killed. I can use this for my research because I need to know all of that information to answer the parts to my question.
